    Chilli Gobi Recipe (Chilli cauliflower recipe)

    Love cauliflower a lot. I often make gobi 65 or gobi manchurian at home. This is the cousin sister of gobi manchurian.LOL. Because it slightly resembles manchurian but lot more spicier than that. This is perfect for appetizer with a cup of any cool drinks.

    About Chilli Gobi Recipe

    Chilli Gobi Recipe with step by step pictures. Popular indo chinese recipe made with cauliflower, capsicum and onions tossed in sauce.

    I made this last week and served with vegetable fried rice which I will post soon. Already have chicken fried rice recipe in my blog, so last week I tried vegetable fried rice..It came out pretty good. I also made chilli aloo gravy version, it also came out awesome. Don’t worry everything  will be posted soon.

    How to Make Chilli Gobi Recipe (Chilli Cauliflower Recipe)

    Pre Cooking Cauliflower

    Take water in a sauce pan. Add cauliflower, milk and salt to it. Bring it to boil. Now cook for 5 mins or until just cooked. Drain it and set aside.

    Frying Cauliflower (gobi)

    Heat oil for deep frying. Mix up the ingredients given in the batter list to a smooth paste. Dip the cauliflower in that and fry till golden brown. Drain and set aside.

    Making Sauce for Chilli Gobi

    Now heat 2 tblspn of oil. Add ginger, garlic, onions and green chilli and fry for 1 min.  Add capsicum and saute for couple of mins. Sprinkle salt, chilli powder, sugar and mix well. Add in all sauces and mix well.

    Finishing Chilli Gobi

    Now add in the fried gobi in the sauce and toss well.  Mix well and let it cook for 2 mins. Add in cornflour which is mixed with water and toss well.Garnish with spring onion or coriander leaves and serve.

    Ingredients

    For Cooking Cauliflower:

    • 1 Cauliflower cut into florets
    • 2 tsp Salt
    • Water lots of it
    • ¼ cup Milk
    • Oil - for deep frying

    For Sauce:

    • 2 tbsp Oil
    • 2 tbsp Ginger finely chopped
    • 3 tbsp Garlic finely chopped
    • 2 Green Chilli
    • 1 Onion cubed
    • 1 Capsicum / Bell Pepper i used tri colour
    • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
    • 3 tbsp Red Chilli Sauce
    • 3 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
    • 1 tsp Vinegar
    • 3 tbsp Green Chilli Sauce
    • 1 tsp Soy Sauce
    • Spring Onion for garnishing
    • Salt to taste
    • 2 tsp Sugar
    • 2 tsp Corn starch mixed with some water

    For Batter:

    • ½ cup All Purpose Flour
    • ½ cup Corn Starch
    • 1 tsp Baking Powder
    • Salt to taste
    • Water as needed
    • Oil for Deep Frying

    Instructions

    • Take water in a sauce pan. Add cauliflower, milk and salt to it. Bring it to boil. Now cook for 5 mins or until just cooked. Drain it and set aside.

    Chilli Gobi Recipe Step by Step Pictures

    Cooking Cauliflower

    Take cauliflower in a pan, cover with water

     

    add some salt

     

    add a splash of milk

     

    now cook this

     

    now it is done

     

    look how white the florets are..it is because of the milk

     

    drain it

     

    Making Batter

    take batter ingredients

     

    take flour in a bowl

     

    add in cornflour

     

    add in salt

     

    baking powder

     

    mix well

     

    add in water

     

     
    mix well

    Batter done

     

    now it is smooth

     

    Frying Cauliflower

     
    now cauliflower in this batter

     

    drop in hot oil

     

    fry till crispy and golden

     

    drain it

     

    set aside

     

    Making Sauce for Chilli Gobi

    now take your other ingredients

     

    heat oil in a pan, add lots of ginger and garlic

     

    add in onions

     

    green chillies

     

    saute them well

     

    add in peppers

     

    mix well

     

    add in salt, sugar and chilli powder

     

    mix well

     

    add in Red Chilli Sauce and some ketchup

     

    add in green chilli sauce

     

    soy sauce

     

    add vinegar

     

    mix well

     

    add in fried gobi

     

    toss well

     

    add in some cornflour slurry

     

    mix well

      You can also add rice flour with all purpose flour and cornflour.. It makes cauliflowers crispy.
