Chilli Gobi / Dry Chilli Cauliflower – Indo Chinese Recipes

I love cauliflower a lot..I often make gobi 65 or gobi manchurian at home..This is the cousin sister of gobi manchurian.LOL..because it slightly resembles manchurian but lot more spicier than that. This is perfect for appetizer with a cup of any cool drinks..

Grill Cajun Chicken

I made this last week and served with vegetable fried rice which I will post soon. I already have chicken fried rice recipe in my blog, so last week I tried vegetable fried rice..It came out pretty good..I also made chilli aloo gravy version, it also came out awesome…Don’t worry everything  will be posted soon..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 25 mins
Serves: 4


Ingredients:


For Cooking Cauliflower:
Cauliflower – 1 big flower cut into florets
Salt – 2 tsp
Water lots of it
Milk – 1/4 cup
Oil – for deep frying

For Sauce:
Oil – 2 tblspn
Ginger – 2 tblspn finely chopped
Garlic – 3 tblspn finely chopped
Green Chilli – 2
Onion – 1 medium size cubed
Capsicum / Bell Pepper – 1 large cubed( i used tri colour)
Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Red Chilli Sauce – 1/4 cup
Tomato Ketchup – 1/4 cup
Vinegar – 1 tsp
Green Chilli Sauce – 1/4 cup
Soya Sauce – 1 tblspn
Spring Onion– for garnishing
Salt to taste
Sugar – 2 tsp
Cornflour – 2 tsp mixed with some water

For Batter:
All Purpose Flour / Maida – 1/2 cup
Corn Flour / Corn Starch – 1/2 cup
Baking Powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Water – as needed
Oil for Deep Frying

Method:

Take water in a sauce pan. Add cauliflower, milk and salt to it. Bring it to boil. Now cook for 5 mins or untill just cooked. Drain it and set aside.

Heat oil for deep frying. Mix up the ingredients given in the batter list to a smooth paste. Dip the cauliflower in that and fry till golden brown. Drain and set aside.

Now heat 2 tblspn of oil. Add ginger, garlic, onions and green chilli and fry for 1 min. 

Add capsicum and saute for couple of mins.

Add salt, chilli powder, sugar and mix well.

Add in all sauces and mix well.

Now add in the fried gobi and toss well. 

Mix well and let it cook for 2 mins.

Add in cornflour which is mixed with water and toss well..

Garnish with spring onion or coriander leaves and serve..

Pictorial:

Take cauliflower in a pan, cover with water
add some salt
add a splash of milk
now cook this
now it is done
look how white the florets are..it is because of the milk
drain it

take batter ingredients
take flour in a bowl
add in cornflour
add in salt
add in baking powder
mix well
add in water
mix well
Batter done
now it is smooth
now cauliflower in this batter
drop in hot oil
fry till crispy and golden
drain it
set aside
now take your other ingredients
heat oil in a pan, add lots of ginger and garlic
add in onions
add in green chillies
saute them well
add in peppers
mix well
add in salt, sugar and chilli powder
mix well
add in Red Chilli Sauce and some ketchup
add in green chilli sauce
add soy sauce
add vinegar
mix well
add in fried gobi
toss well
add in some cornflour slurry
mix well

    Ajinomoto is a stuff which most chinese use in their dishes to give that a real chinese taste..you can easily skip that and continue..

    You can also add rice flour with all purpose flour and cornflour.. It makes cauliflowers crispy.
