Making french bread at home is so easy than you can imagine. You can make this bread from start to finish in under 1 hour.

    Baguette Recipe

Simple & Easy French Bread Recipe - Under 1 Hour with step wise pictures. One of the easiest bread you could ever make. This dough can be put together in just few mins. The bread taste so yummy when served freshly sliced.

This bread is so easy to make. You can use a combination of wheat flour and regular flour. You can make this in an instant and it taste best when served warm with some butter. Make this into so many variation. Will share all the version soon.

    About French Bread

French bread is typically made from wheat flour, water, yeast and salt. By law in France, the long loaves and boules (round loaves) cannot have added oil or fat. Brioche, a soft loaf with a high egg and butter content, is considered a pastry. Italian bread often contains a bit of milk or olive oil, and sometimes a bit of sugar. The baguette bread first existed in its most fundamental form in the seventeenth century, then through a series of modifications and alterations until being given that name (legally) in 1920.

    Shape of french bread

French bread tends to be longer and narrower. The shape is very important in a french bread. Sliced french bread is toasted and turned into bruschetta and garlic toast.

    Texture of the bread

French bread tends to be hard and crusty on the outside, with a light and soft crumb.

    Ingredients for French Bread

    All Purpose Flour

all-purpose flour contains more protein, it gives the crumb a more chewy, fluffy feel, similar to bakery Artisan bread, and it keeps the bread fresher for longer.

    Dry Yeast

If you are using the active dry yeast make sure to activate it first before proceeding with the recipe. You can use either instant or active dry yeast, but I recommend instant yeast (also known as rapid rise or quick rise east). The bread will rise more quickly.

    Olive Oil

Everyone in France consumes bread and olive oil on a regular basis. After all, its an old match that dates back to the origins of both ingredients.

    How to Make French Bread

    • Take warm water, sugar and yeast in a bowl and mix well. let it sit for 2 to 3 mins to activate.
    • Add in flour, salt and mix well to form a sticky dough.
    • Add in oil and mix well to form a soft dough.
    • Take the dough in a surface.Add more flour and knead well.
    • Now spread it like a rectangle. Start rolling from an end tight and seal the edges.
    • Take this in a parchment lined baking pan and leave to rise for 30 mins.
    • Now use a sharp knife and make few slashes on the top.
    • Preheat oven to 200 degree C. Place a baking sheet in the bottom of the oven to heat up in which we will put ice cubes once we put the bread in.
    • Put the bread tray in the middle rack of a preheated oven and bake for 20 to 22 mins till top is golden.
    • Once you put the tray in oven, put few ice cubes in the bottom tray so steam can build up which will give your the signature chewy crust.
    • Once the bread is baked. Remove it and cool completely.
    • Slice and serve.

Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you.

Is it OK if I skip putting ice cubes while Baking. Mine is a small oven and there's no racks I usually bake in lower rack and there's no space to put ice cubes.

Just keep a stainless bowl near the bread and place icecubes in it once it is hot.

      Hi Arti
I tried it today. The bread came out very soft. It was not chewy and the top was not hard crust. I have put 8. -10 ice cubes. I kneaded the dough for 5 to 7 min.
