    Jeera Hing Aloo

    I love making potato poriyal for lunch. Believe it or not i never make the same potato recipe more than two times. Each time i flavour the potatoes differently and make it.     Even today i made potato roast and rasam. But this time i flavoured potatoes with cumin seeds and asafoetida. Jeera and potatoes went really good together, i I made it little spicy because people in this house loves things extra spicy. But you can reduce the chilli powder as per your taste..

    Ingredients for Jeera Hing Aloo

    • Oil - 3 tblspn
    • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tblspn
    • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - ¼ tsp
    • Onion - 1 large sliced thinly
    • Potatoes - 4 boiled and peeled
    • Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
    • Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1 tsp
    • Coriander Leaves - 1 cup chopped
    • Salt to taste

    How to make Jeera Hing Aloo

    1. Boil potatoes till done, peel it and break it into small pieces set aside.
    2. Heat oil in a pan, add in cumin seeds, asafoetida and saute for few sec.
    3. Add in onions and saute till lightly translucent.
    4. Now add chilli powder, turmeric powder and mix well.
    5. Add in cooked potatoes and mix well. Cook this for few mins.
    6. Now add in coriander leaves and mix well.
    7. Serve with rice or roti..

    Jeera Hing Aloo Recipe step by step pictures

     
    Take all your ingredients
    Boil potatoes till tender
    Peel the skin 
    break it into small pieces and set aside
    heat oil in a pan, add in cumin 
    let it sizzle
    add a generous pinch of asafoetida
    add in onions
    season with some salt
    saute for few mins
    add in chilli powder and turmeric powder
    mix well
    add in potatoes

     

    toss well
    cook for few more mins
    add lots of coriander leaves
    mix well
