Chicken 65 is a spicy dish that can be served as appetizer,snacks,Side dish etc.Do you guys know how this dish got its name…There are many stories behind this dish…Some people say that to make this dish perfect we have to use 65 ingrediants and some say that the chicken that are used in this dish is 65 days old..blah blah blah…The original thing is this dish originated in a military canteen in Chennai and as most of the soldiers, officers were from various parts of the country, to avoid language problems, they actually used a unique numbering system in the menu card/board. and this particular dish was the 65th item on that menu. so it became chicken 65..I served this dish with Egg briyani(check link for recipe).ok give this a try and let me know what you think.
Chicken-1/2 kg Boneless and cut into bite size pieces
Red chilli powder-1 tsp
Garam masala powder-1 tsp
Corn flour-3 tblspn
Chilli Garlic Sauce-1 tblspn(Check down for recipe)
Garlic-3 cloves sliced
Onion-1 chopped finely(I used spring onion)
Tomato Sauce-1 tblpsn
Red colour-1 tsp
Green chilli-1 sliced
Salt to taste
Spring onion-for garnishing
Mix the things given for marinating and leave for 5 min.Then fry in oil till golden brown and set it aside.
In a kadai add oil and sauté some garlic and onions and fry till golden brown.Add in green chilli and sauté well.
Add in vinegar,Ajinomoto,Salt and mix well.
Add in soya sauce,Chilli garlic sauce,Tomato Sauce,red colour and mix well.
Add a little bit of water and bring that to boil and quickly toss in the Fried chicken in it.
Garnish with spring onion and Serve hot with a little squeeze of lemon juice.
Chilli Garlic Sauce Recipe:
Take 10 Dried Red chilli,10 cloves of Garlic,1 tsp of salt,1/4 cup of vinegar in a mixer.Grind it into a slightly coarse paste.Tip this into a bottle.Heat 3 tblspn of oil untill it smokes.Pour this oil over the prepared sauce.mix well and let it cool completely.Store this in refrigerator for up to 1 month.
