Carrot & Spring Onion Thoran

Thoran is a famous south indian dish. It is made with a whole lot of veggies, hmm i would say you can make thoran with almost all veggies. You can check all my thoran dish here. Normally we make thoran with carrots alone, but for a twist i added some spring onions in there too. And it actually tasted yummy.

I served it with andhra tomato rasam. The combination is yummy. So here you go to the recipe..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 15 mins

Salt to taste

Dry Red Chilli -1

For Grinding:
Coconut - 3/4 cup freshly grated
Dry Red Chilli - 2
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
Shallots / Sambar Onion - 2
Garlic  - 2 cloves

Method:

Take all the ingredients give for grinding in a blender and grind them without adding water.

Heat oil in a kadai. Add in mustard, urad dal and dry red chilli. Saute them for 30 seconds.

Now add in carrots and spring onions. Saute them well in oil. Season with salt.

Now cover this with a lid and let it cook on a low heat for 5 to 8 mins.

Now open the lid and give a stir. Add in the ground masala and toss well with the veggies. Cook them for couple of mins..

I love thorans garnished with coconut... Each time I see that pan I make a mental note to ask you if it s the diamond pan from Wonderchef.. Is so, I want to ask you if its worth buying and if it's better than a normal nonstick tawa
