Nannari Sarbath Recipe - How to Make Nannari Syrup at Home

Nannari syrup is so good for these hot summer days. It is natural coolant and helps to cool the body.

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 30 mins
Makes: 2 cups


Nannari Roots - 1 cup
Sugar - 2 cups
Water - 4 cups
Lemon Juice - 3 tblspn

For Juice:
Sarbath - 3 to 4 tblspn
Lemon Juice to taste
Cold Water - as needed


Take nannari root and bash them and remove the center part. 

Crush it lightly. Take it in a blender and crush it.

Now soak them in cold water overnight.

Drain the water and take it in a pot.

Add sugar and lemon juice and bring it to a boil. Boil this for 25 to 30 mins till syrupy.

Cool this and store it in a air tight bottle.

For making juice, take some syrup in a cup, add lemon juice, add cold water and serve.


You can store the syrup in fridge for many months.

Wash and dry nannari roots
you have to remove the center part of the root

crush it

discard the center part

take the roots in a blender

crush it lightly

soak it in water overnight

now it has soaked

strain it

drain them

this is the flavourful water

take sugar in a sauce pan

add water

bring it to a boil

add lemon juice

cook this till it gets 1 string consistency

it will take around 25 to 30 mins

now it is done

cool this and store in bottle

for making juice, take some syrup in a cup

add lemon juice

add cold water
