I love the flavour of ginger in my chicken dish, i have already shared a ginger pepper chicken recipe in my blog which i love so much. It is so easy to make but taste so yum..I make ginger chicken little different too, it is made by frying chicken separately and tossing it in a ginger flavoured sauce, it taste good too, goes really well with noodles and fried rice.. But i always wanted to post a spicy yet complete ginger flavoured chicken dish. Thats when i came across this post from ria’s blog and totally loved it..
Take your ingredients |
Take chopped chicken pieces in a bowl, use boneless if you can |
Drizzle in some soy sauce |
season with some salt |
drizzle in some vinegar |
Mix well and leave it to marinate for 30 mins |
Now take onions in a blender |
Add a bunch of garlic and ginger, ginger has to be dominant |
Make it into a smooth paste |
Now heat oil and add the chicken in |
fry on high heat till the chicken is coloured |
Now remove this to a plate |
In the remaining oil, add more oil if needed |
add in the ground masala |
mix well with the oil, and scrape the brown bits |
cook till the raw smell leaves away and oil separates from the mix |
Add in some chilli powder and pepper powder |
Add in chopped green chillies |
add in some salt |
add in some ketchup |
i added a touch of water |
mix well |
cook for few more mins…You can taste to see the salt and spice level |
add in the browned chicken |
toss well in the masala |
cover and cook |
once it is all done, turn off the heat |
add in spring onion or coriander leaves |
serve |
Thanks for showing step by step recipe of the ginger chicken. Wonderfully prepared.
Deepa
delicious gravy… mouth watering..
Why do you call it ginger chicken, I do not think the ginger taste would be dominating, as many other ingredients are used ? Does it give a gingery taste ?
@swaSince 1/2 cup of ginger is used, that flavour will be dominating…
Yesterday I tried it. Every one in my family liked it.
Could u pls tell me why we need to double fry the chicken? Instead can we add it straight after adding
the masala
@Anonymousit makes it more tasty
