If you love easy no-bake desserts, then this recipe will become your favorite. This dessert will be loved by both kids and adults and is perfect for birthdays, special occasions or when you want to satisfy your chocolate cravings.

About No Bake Oreo Mousse Cake

This no-bake oreo mousse cake is a rich dessert made with simple ingredients like oreo cookies, butter, sugar, dark chocolate and whipping cream. It is an easy dessert recipe that requires no oven and makes it perfect for these hot summer days. Check my no bake oreo cheesecake too.

To start making the cake, the oreo cookies are crushed and mixed with melted butter to form the buttery oreo crust. This layer sets into a firm, and slightly crunchy base that adds a delicious flavour and also holds the mousse layer perfectly.

Then chocolate mousse is prepared by mixing dark chocolate, instant coffee powder, sugar and whipped cream. It turns into a soft, silky and rich melt-in-mouth texture that tastes absolutely decadent in every bite.

To make the dessert even more irresistible, the cake is finished with a glossy chocolate ganache topping. This final layer adds extra richness and gives the cake a beautiful bakery style look. Once chilled, the layers set beautifully and slice perfectly for serving.

    Ingredients

    • Oreo cookies : I have used oreo cookies to make the base crust of the cake. It creates a crunchy texture that balances beautifully with the creamy chocolate mousse layer.
    • Unsalted butter : Unsalted butter helps bind the crushed oreos together so the crust sets well. It also adds a rich taste and gives the cake a melt-in-mouth feel after chilling.
    • Dark chocolate chips : Dark chocolate chips is the main ingredient that gives the mousse its intense chocolate flavour and taste.
    • Sugar : Sugar used to balance the bitterness of dark chocolate and enhances the overall flavour of the mousse.
    • Instant coffee powder : Instant coffee powder enhances the chocolate flavour and makes the mousse taste rich.
    • Whipping cream : Whipping cream gives the mousse its creamy texture after beating.
    • Topping - Dark chocolate chips and butter is melted to create a glossy chocolate ganache layer. It adds a rich chocolate finish with a smooth texture over the cake.

    Expert Tips

    • Make sure to crush the oreo cookies finely so the crust holds together properly when mixed with butter and sets well after chilling.
    • Always use cold whipping cream because it whips faster and gives a fluffy and stable mousse texture.
    • Don't over mix the mousse after adding whipped cream, as it can become runny and lose its texture.
    • Chill the cake for at least 4 to 6 hours or overnight, so that all the layers set properly and slice neatly.
    • You can replace dark chocolate with milk chocolate if preferred. But reduce the sugar quantity accordingly.

    Storage and Serving

Store the oreo mousse cake in the refrigerator, tightly covered with cling wrap to prevent it from drying out. It stays fresh for 3 to 4 days when chilled properly.

Serve the cake chilled for the best creamy texture and clean slices. You can garnish with crushed oreos, chocolate shavings, ice cream or whipped cream before serving.

    FAQ

    Q. Why is my mousse runny or not setting ?

This usually happens if the whipping cream is not whipped properly or if the cake has not been chilled enough. Overmixing the mousse also affects the texture and makes it loose.

    Q. Can I use milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate ?

Yes, you can use milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. But make sure to adjust the sugar quantity accordingly otherwise the dessert will taste more sweeter.

    Q. Can I make chocolate mousse ahead of time ?

Yes, you can prepare the chocolate mousse in advance and refrigerate them. It stays fresh for 3 to 4 days when chilled properly. And use them in your desserts.
