    Wheat Pizza Dough

We all love pizza, how about making it a little bit healthy. This wheat pizza base is a healthy and low fat recipe for the most healthiest pizza. To turn this dough in to a beautiful pizza, I added some healthy toppings and baked.

    About Wheat Pizza Dough

Traditionally pizza dough is made with simple ingredients like plain flour, yeast, salt, olive oil. How about making it little healthier by swapping wheat flour instead of regular plain flour. The resulting pizza is no different than our regular pizza.

I used whole wheat flour, yeast, sugar, warm water and olive oil for making the dough and made veggie pizza using that. It turned out perfect.

You can check my Basic dough, ready to cook pizza base or yeast free pizza dough.

Wheat Pizza Base in 3 Easy Steps

Activating Yeast - Start by activating yeast, mix yeast and sugar in warm water. set aside for 5 mins.

Mixing Dough - Take flour, salt and olive oil in a bowl. Add in the yeast water and make it into a soft dough.

Proofing - Cover and let the dough rise for 1 to 2 hours till it is doubled in size. Cover and let the dough rise for 1 to 2 hours till it is doubled in size.

2)Add in sugar. instead of sugar you can use honey.

    4) Take wheat flour in a bowl.

    5) Add salt to taste. I am using pink salt.

    6)Pour the activated yeast water.

    7)Add in olive oil.

    8)Knead to a soft dough.

9)Add little oil on top and set aside for the dough to proof and double in size.

10)You can cover them with kitchen towel or cling wrap.

11)Now the dough is almost doubled in size.

    12)Use as required.

Tried this aarthi. Very tasty though it is made with wheat flour. But why my dough is not doubling in size? Even when I tried naan using maida also my dough did not raise. But taste wise it is good. What is the brand of yeast u r using? My yeast contains little big size balls not as yours. Does that make any difference?

@MadhuIt is because your yeast is not activated. You have to activate the yeast in warm water with some sugar. If you add yeast to hot water then it will die and the dough wont rise.

Aarthi, recently started trying your recipes. Thanks for the excellent recipes. In this wheat pizza base recipe, the measurement is for dry active yeast or instant yeast ? Could you tell me the measurement for dry active yeast for this recipe ? Also, where to buy good dry active yeast brand in Bangalore ? Thanks in advance

Aarthi,if we were to double the amount of flour, can i double the amount of yeast too? Can I follow your yeast free recipe for WwF? Will it give us soft buns?
