Anyone out there who hates fried chicken (not the vegetarians)..No I didn't see any hands rising up. I know everyone loves fried foods, specially chicken. We are a great fan of fried chicken. I always try new variation of fried chicken whenever I make it. Because I am on a mission to find the best fried chicken recipe in the world. So here comes my experimental part, I made this couple of weeks back and I am telling ya, this is one of the best fried chicken I have ever tasted.
I don't know where I came across this recipe, but this was in my mind for a while. So when I decided to give it a try, I added some of my indian masala and spices and customized it as per my taste. The end result was amazing and hubby gave me his signature wow smile. I used buttermilk as the base of the marination because the acid in the buttermilk somehow tenderize the meat and make it even more succulent.
So next time when
you decide to make fried chicken, you know what to do. Am I RIGHT GUYS..
Ingredients:
Chicken - 1 kg
Oil for Deep frying
For
Marination:
Buttermilk - 2 cups
Ginger Garlic paste
- 2 tblspn
Salt to taste
Pepper Powder to
taste
Garam Masala Powder
- 1 tsp
For
Flour Coating:
All Purpose Flour /
Maida - 2 cups
Salt to taste
Chilli powder - 2
tsp
Method:
Take a mixing bowl
and add in the chicken. Now add all the marination ingredients in it and mix
well.
Let this marinate
for 3-4 hours or overnight in the fridge.
Now remove this
fridge and let it come to room temparature.
Take flour, salt,
chilli powder in a plate and mix well..
Dip each chicken
piece in the flour mixture. Coat it well on all sides.
Place them in a
rack and leave it for 10 mins, so that
it gets dry and the flour coats each piece well.
Heat oil for deep
frying.
Drop few pieces of
chicken in. Don't crowd the oil. Deep fry the chicken on medium flame for 15
mins. Now increase the flame and cook for 5 more mins, so that it gets nice
colour.
Drain the chicken in
paper towel.
Serve with hot sauce
or ketchup.

Irresistible and definitely addictive fried chicken, inviting.
Hi,
If I wish to make a vegetarian version using this method, what can I replace chicken with?
I loved this method and want to try the same using some veg ingredient.
This is a great recipe, Aarti!! One question, instead of deep frying, if we were to bake the chicken, would it achieve the same effect?

@PriyankaI think you can make this with paneer or tofu
@beingFab I think that it will work too..But you won't get it as crispier as this. Try it and tell me how it turned out

can we mix butter and milk and make butter milk ourselves ? :P
@Red ScintillaNo you can't mix butter and milk to make buttermilk. You can take warm milk add few drops of lemon juice and leave it aside for 15 mins. Now use that for buttermilk. Make sure to use warm milk, if you use hot one, the milk will curdle.
