Earlier I used to make it with a coffee flavoured syrup, but this updated version made using coconut milk is next level taste. If you are wondering how the taste of coconut milk and coffee will be, you have to give this a try.

    About Coconut Coffee Recipe

This coconut coffee is a popular beverage in cafés throughout Vietnam and Thailand. It is made different ways all over the country. Traditionally it is a coconut slushy made with coconut cream, sweetened condensed milk, and ice, topped with Vietnamese coffee. It is indulgent and refreshing.

But this recipe is much simpler and uses just coconut milk, sugar and instant coffee. The coconut flavour comes from the coconut milk so use freshly squeezed coconut milk.

    Coconut Coffee Ingredients

Instant Coffee - Use good quality instant coffee or instant espresso for this which adds a wonderful coffee taste to the beverage.

Coconut Milk - I prefer using fresh coconut milk or coconut milk from carton over canned coconut milk. Coconut milk is carton has fresher taste than canned coconut milk.

Simple Sugar Syrup - Simple syrup is just sugar syrup. Equal amount of sugar and water is boiled till it gets syrupy. You can make a big batch of this and store in fridge.

Ice Cubes - using lots of ice cubes provides the cold refreshing texture which this drink requires. Also it dilutes the strong coffee and coconut flavour as you consume which makes it more enjoyable.

How to Make Coconut Coffee (Stepwise Pictures)

    Making Coffee Mixture

1)Take instant coffee powder in a jug. I am using my measuring cup, we are going to froth the coffee mixture, so use a vessel convenient for that.

Pro Tip: You can use freshly brewed espresso instead of instant coffee powder. To make a stronger brew, simply increase the amount of grounds used without changing the amount of water. This will change the ratio and result in a stronger cup.

2)Add few spoons of hot water into the coffee mixture.

3)Now you can use a milk frother or a whisk to mix this really well so the coffee mixture gets frothy.

4)Add in simple sugar syrup to taste. Instead of using simple syrup, you can use honey, maple syrup, brown sugar or agave.

Pro Tip: Simple syrup is sugar syrup. Equal amount of sugar and water is boiled till it gets syrupy. You can make a big batch of this and store in fridge.

5)Mix this really well and set aside.

    Making Coconut Coffee

6)Fill a serving cup of ice cubes.

7)Pour in thick coconut milk. Even though fresh coconut milk is preferred. You can use coconut milk in carton.

8)Pour the prepared coffee and sugar mixture.

9)Mix it really well and enjoy immediately.

    Variations

This recipe has been my recent obsession. I have been addicted to this ever since. The combination of coffee and coconut is just perfect. Also I used freshly brewed coffee which I made in my moka pot for this recipe which was fantastic.

Instead of using coconut milk, I used regular milk and the coconut flavour is obtained from using coconut syrup. I bought my coconut syrup from amazon. You can make your own syrup it is just so easy. Just take equal part sugar and water in a sauce pan and boil for 4 to 5 mins till it gets syrupy, then add in some coconut extract and mix. thats it. You can  store this in fridge and use as needed.

    Ingredients

    • Ice cubes to fill serving cup
    • One shot Brewed Espresso
    • 3 tbsp Coconut Syrup
    • Milk of choice as needed

How to Make Coconut Iced Coffee

1)Take a serving cup. Fill it with ice cubes.

2)Now pour brewed espresso. I used my moka pot to brew the coffee.

To make a stronger brew, simply increase the amount of grounds used without changing the amount of water. This will change the ratio and result in a stronger cup.

3)This is the coconut syrup I used for flavouring and sweeten the coffee. This is store bought syrup.

Pro Tip: you can make your own syrup at home as well. Just take equal part sugar and water in a sauce pan and boil for 4 to 5 mins till it gets syrupy, then add in some coconut extract and mix. thats it. You can  store this in fridge and use as needed.

4)Pour in the coconut syrup, add as much as you need.

5)Now pour milk over the coffee. You can use almond milk, soy milk or oat milk as well. For more richer taste, drizzle some cream.

6)Mix this really well and enjoy immediately.

    FAQ

    1) Is iced or hot coffee healthier?

Hot coffee contains more antioxidants than cold brew, and antioxidants are responsible for many of the health benefits associated with coffee.

2)Does coffee and coconut go together?

Coconut and coffee go well together. Try your favourite coffee with the decadent flavours of sweet coconut milk and caramel syrup. Great in the winter as a hot drink, or in the summer with plenty of ice.

    3)Where is coconut coffee from?

This coconut coffee is a popular beverage in cafés throughout Vietnam. It's a coconut slushy made with coconut cream, sweetened condensed milk, and ice, topped with Vietnamese coffee.
