    Pancake Ingredients

    • Plain Flour - I used plain flour in making this basic pancakes. Instead of plain flour you can use ½ cup wheat flour and  ½ cup of maida or use 1 cup of whole wheat flour.
    • Baking powder - I used 2 teaspoon of baking powder for every 1 cup of plain flour which results in perfect soft pancakes.
    • Milk - Use full fat whole milk. Milk along with egg and baking powder will give you soft pancakes. For dairy free option, you can use almond milk, soy milk.
    • Egg - Egg is essential in making pancakes soft and light. If you are looking for an eggless option, check my eggless pancakes recipe.
    • Vanilla - I add ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract in my pancakes.
    • Sugar - For pancakes you don't need to use too much sugar. Since we will be serving pancakes with fruits, honey, or syrup.
    • Melted Butter - I add melted butter or oil into the pancake batter. This is my secret touch for making the best pancakes with even colour on top. I don't add any fat to the pan when making pancakes.

1)Take eggs in a mixing bowl. I am using one large egg.

8)Once the batter is mixed well, pour in melted butter. Instead of melted butter you can add any flavourless oil. For making pancakes you don't add oil or butter in the pan instead you mix it into the batter. Mix the melted butter into the pancake batter.

    Expert Tips

    • Making a perfect pancake batter is as simple as 1-2-3. Dump all your ingredients in one mixing bowl and combine. That's it. Once the batter is mixed well, pour in melted butter.
    • For making pancakes you don't add oil or butter in the pan instead you mix it into the batter. Mix the melted butter into the pancake batter will give you even coloured, golden pancakes.
    • For busy mornings, have this homemade pancake mix handy. This pancake mix is a keeper recipe because it works with both eggs and without eggs as well.

    FAQ

How should the consistency of pancake batter should be?

For thicker batter, use ¾ cup milk, makes batter thicker, which prevents the batter spreading resulting in thick, fluffy pancakes. Pourable batter will make pancakes soft and slightly thinner which I prefer.

Which type of pan is best for pancakes?

Personally I prefer using cast iron pan over non stick pans for making pancakes. Cast iron pan heats evenly and retains its heat longer which results in even golden colour on pancakes. The only important thing you have to remember is not to add oil or butter into the pan, instead mix your fat in the pancake batter.
