I used fresh orange segments, milk and lots of ice in this, adding juice doesn't make this creamy, you have add fresh orange segments. Love the little pulp of oranges coming through your mouth when u drink it. And my secret touch is the addition of whipping cream powder, if you have that add it or leave it out .It makes it more tasty and frothy.

    About Orange Milkshake

Orange milkshake is a refreshing and flavourful drink that brings citrus with a sweet creamy twist. Orange is naturally rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C, which boosts immunity, improves skin health and keeps you hydrated during hot summer days. So, this drink is a perfect way to use up the fresh oranges in your kitchen.

The sweet and tangy flavours of orange blends beautifully with chilled milk and whipping cream powder creates a delicious drink. With its smooth creamy texture and tangy taste, it is loved by both kids and adults at home. This drink is so simple and easy to make that you can enjoy it during any time of the day.

To make a creamy and frothy milkshake, first chill the boiled milk. Then peel the oranges segments and remove any seeds to avoid bitterness. Blend the orange pulp with chilled milk, ice cubes, sugar and whipping cream powder to have a rich and refreshing taste. Your delicious thick milkshake will be ready in minutes and serve it immediately with whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream on top.

    WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS

Rich and refreshing : Oranges are naturally sweet and juicy, so the citrus flavour adds a refreshing taste to the milkshake. It feels so light and keeps you hydrated the whole day.

Nutritional value : Oranges are an excellent source of Vitamin C, which boosts immunity and improves skin health. When the orange is combined with milk, which gives you an added dose of calcium and protein. So, this drink makes a healthy choice for both kids and adults.

    Ingredients

Orange : This is the star ingredient of the recipe, as it gives a tangy and fruity punch to the shake. I have used fresh, sweet and juicy navel oranges for making milkshakes. You can use any variety of orange based on your choice.

Cold milk : As cold as your milk is, the shake will be creamy and frothy. It also helps your drink to be chilled and refreshing for a long time. You can also go for non dairy milk options like soy milk, almond milk or coconut milk.

Icing sugar : Icing sugar is nothing but powdered granulated sugar. It dissolves quickly and also adds sweetness to the drink. You can substitute with honey, maple syrup or condensed milk.

Whipping cream powder : This powder makes the drink rich, creamy and adds a foamy texture. If you don't have whipping powder, substitute with a scoop of ice cream, freshly whipped cream or heavy cream.

    For More Delicious Milkshake

Prep work : Chill the boiled milk and oranges in the refrigerator for a few hours.

Peeling : Take the oranges, cut the top and bottom part of it. Peel the skin. Cut the orange segments using its natural mark.

Want vegan milkshake : To make a vegan milkshake, swap the full fat dairy milk with plant based milk like soy milk, coconut milk, oat milk, almond milk or cashew milk.

Nutty milkshake : Add some soaked almonds or cashews while blending to make the drink more creamier and nutritious.

    Step by Step Pictures

    1)Take couple of oranges.

2)I like to cut the oranges using a serrated knife.

3)First remove the top and bottom of the oranges.

4)This will give you a flat surface for the orange to sit on the cutting board.

    5)Now place it like this.

6)Use the serrated knife to go through the orange peel. The shape of the orange will be your guide.

7)Just remove the peel like this.

    8)Like this.

9)Repeat this for the whole orange.

10)Make sure to remove only the peel of the oranges.

11)If you have some pulp removed, you can squeeze to extract the juice to make the shake.

12)I squeezed it directly into the blender. This helps with less wastage.

13)Now we are going to remove the segments from the oranges.

14)There is a white membrane between each segment. Use that your guide to remove the orange segments.

15)Add this orange segments into the blender.

16)Repeat this for the another orange too.

17)Add in icing sugar. You can use regular sugar too.

    18)Add lots of ice cubes.

    19)Pour in chilled milk.

20)Now comes the secret ingredient. Whipping cream powder.

    21)Time to blend.

    22)Thick creamy and frothy.

    23)Pour into serving glasses.

24)Place a slice of orange for decoration.

    25)Enjoy immediately.

    Expert Tips

    • Choose fresh and naturally sweet oranges for best taste.
    • Squeeze the flush in a blender that is stuck to the orange skin. Chill the oranges and milk before blending for a refreshing drink.
    • Add a scoop of ice cream or heavy cream for a rich and creamy texture.
    • If you prefer a smooth texture, then strain to remove any pulp or seeds.

Serve the orange milkshake immediately. As it tastes best when served fresh. While serving, add fresh mint leaves, scoop of ice cream or fresh whipped cream on top.

    FAQ

    Q. Can I add orange juice instead of orange segments ?

Yes, you can add orange juice instead of segments. However, the freshly peeled and blended oranges gives the milkshake a better texture and flavour.

    Q. Can I make it with ice cream ?

Yes, you can add a scoop of ice cream to make it even more creamier.

    Q. Will the milk curdle when mixed with orange ?

If you add warm or hot milk, then it will curdle. To avoid that, always use chilled milk.

    Q. How long can I store an orange milkshake ?

It is recommended to consume the fresh orange milkshake immediately. If needed, refrigerate it for 3 to 5 hours. Shake well before serving.

    Q. Can I use canned oranges ?

Canned oranges also work for this recipe, but they are high in sugar. So, drain the syrup and rinse them before using.

    Variations

Orange yogurt smoothie : Swap milk with yogurt or greek yogurt and blend with orange, sugar and ice cubes. This will be rich in probiotics and good for your gut health.

Orange slushie : Slushie is one of my kid's favourite drinks. To make an orange slushie, freeze the orange segments. Then blend it with ice cubes, sugar and ice cream. It will be an icy, creamy and refreshing drink, perfect for summer.

Orange chocolate milkshake : While blending orange, milk, sugar, add a teaspoon of cocoa powder or chocolate syrup. It will turn into a delicious contrast of tangy and chocolatey.

Hi..i have a query..while you put the whole orange in there do you not remove the seeds considering they have the ability to ruin a perfectly nice smoothie by making it bitter?
Just curious before trying..hope you'll answer the question..thanks
