    Fried Chicken Rolls Recipe

    Fried chicken rolls recipe, is a spicy chicken filling stuffed inside a crispy rolls. Bakery style chicken rolls made easily at home. These are so crispy on the outside and so fluffy inside when had with the spicy tangy chicken filling, it taste so delicious.

    Some recipes stay in our hearts because of where we first tasted them in a small bakery around the corner, a cozy café, or a favorite restaurant. This particular recipe is one of those for me.

    I first tasted it at a nearby bakery and instantly fell in love with it. Ever since then, it became my absolute favorite, and I just had to recreate it in my own kitchen. After a few trials, I'm so happy to share this recreated version with you.

    About Chicken Rolls

    Chicken rolls are nothing but soft fluffy buns or rolls stuffed with chicken rolls. You make it either with spring roll sheets or yeast dough.

    This recipe for chicken rolls is my version. Pillow soft buns are topped with a chicken filling . This is perfect to put in your kids lunch box or it will make a great after school snack. The dough and filling can be made a day in advance and stored in fridge.

    Since it is Ramadan season, I thought it would be a perfect recipe to share with you all. The buns are coated in breadcrumbs before frying which makes it so soft and fluffy.

    The interior is so spongy and it taste so yum with the chicken filling. In the near by bakery they call it as hot dog. And love it so much.

    I used my homemade pizza dough as the base and it was so soft, light and fluffy. You can even add some colourful bell peppers to make it super colourful.

    Ingredients

    • Pizza Dough - I used my homemade pizza dough as the base and it was so soft, light and fluffy.
    • Onions & Tomato - use chopped onions and tomatoes in the filling to make flavourful topping.
    • Ginger Garlic - adds aroma and makes the filling so flavour. Try to use fresh ginger and garlic.
    • Ketchup - tomato ketchup adds the tang which is main for the filling.
    • Spice Powder - simple spices like chilli powder and garam masala powder adds an Indian touch to the filling.
    • Eggs - the rolls is dipped in egg which makes the bread crumbs stick to the buns outer which in turn makes the crust super crispy.
    • Breadcrumbs - you can use fine breadcrumbs for this recipe which makes perfect teture.
    • Oil - neutral oil like sunflower, canola or refined oil is used for deep frying.

    Step by Step Pictures

    Chicken Filling

    1)take all your ingredients for making chicken roll.

    2)Heat oil in a pan. Add in chopped onions, tomatoes and ginger garlic paste. Saute for 2 to 3 minutes.

    3)Let the tomatoes get soft and mushy.

    4)Add salt, chilli powder and garam masala powder. Mix into the onion and tomato mix.

    5)Let the spices mix into the onion tomato masala.

    6)Add finely chopped chicken pieces into the onion tomato mix.

    7)Stir into the masala and cook until chicken is completely cooked. Cook covered for 8 to 10 minutes.

    8)Add in tomato ketchup and mix well.

    9)Cook until excess moisture evaporates and the masala gets thick. Add coriander leaves if using and mix well. Your chicken filling is ready.

    Make Dough

    10)I made a basic pizza dough for the bun. check the recipe for the dough.

    Shaping

    11)Now to shape and make the fried buns. You need the pizza dough, egg and breadcrumbs.

    12)You can shape the dough into round bun like, or make this oval shape. Cover and let it rise for 15 to 20 minutes.

    13)I added some water into the egg and whisked it really well. Now take the bun, First dip the buns in the egg wash slightly on all sides.

    14)Drop it into the breadcrumbs and coat with the breadcrumbs. This create crispy exterior.

    15)Breadcrumbs will stick all over the buns.

    Frying Buns

    16)Drop the buns in hot oil and fry for 3 minutes on each side, flip over and cook on other side for 2 to 3 minutes. It will get golden in colour.

    17)Strain the buns and set aside to cool for 10 minutes.

    Assembling

    18)Now lets assemble the chicken rolls, slit open the buns.

    19)Fill with the chicken filling generously. You can even stuff with chopped onions, tomatoes.

    Deep Fry Pot

    Ingredients
      

    • 1 batch Basic Pizza Dough
    • Sunflower Oil for Deep frying

    For Filling

    • 1 tablespoon Oil
    • 1 large Onion peeled & chopped finely
    • 2 large Tomato chopped finely
    • 2 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
    • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
    • 1 tablespoon Red Chilli Powder
    • 2 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
    • 500 grams Boneless Chicken chopped finely
    • 3 tablespoon Tomato Ketchup
    • 4 tablespoon Coriander Leaves chopped finely

    For Egg Wash & Coating

    • 2 large Egg
    • ¼ cup Water
    • 2 cups Breadcrumbs

    Instructions
     

    • Start by making the pizza dough. Let it rise for 1 hour. Link for recipe given below.
    • Heat oil in a pan, add onion and saute till golden. Add in tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and cook till mushy. Sprinkle in chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt and mix well.
    • Add in chopped chicken and mix well with the masala. Cover and cook on low heat till it is cooked. Add in ketchup and cook till the mixture dries up. Garnish with coriander leaves and mix well. Filling is ready.
    • Divide the pizza dough into equal portions. Now take one portion of dough and shape it like a log. Let it rise for 20 minutes.
    • Whisk egg with water in a bowl. Take breadcrumbs in another bowl. Heat oil for deep frying.
    • Now take the buns gently, dip the risen in beaten egg and coat it in breadcrumbs.
    • Drop it in hot oil and deep fry the log till golden brown on both sides. It will take around 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from hot oil and Strain them in a paper towel.
    • Now to assemble, take the roll, split it in half. Fill with the filling and serve.
