    About Ferrero Rocher Cake

Ferrero Rocher is one of the most loved and tasty confectionery which is made with wafer shells, filled with hazelnut cream and hazelnuts. I wanted to bake a cake which imitates the flavours of Ferrero Rocher.

This cake is made with chocolate hazelnut sponge cake, which is frosted with Nutella cream cheese frosting and the whole cake is topped with a chocolate hazelnut topping which taste very similar to Ferrero Rocher Chocolates.

OMG, is the only word to describe this cake. It is so chocolate and taste so heavenly. Rich sponge cake with the most decadent Nutella frosting.

I have given step by step pictures on how to make this cake clearly. So it will be very easy for you to bake.

To make this cake without any stress. Plan making the cake 2 days in advance. Bake the cake a day in advance, You can even make the frosting a day in advance. This way, you can assemble the cake the next day without any fuss.

I made my basic chocolate sponge cake which holds well when slicing. It also absorbs the milk better makes it softer and moist.

The frosting and topping is what makes the cake so special. I used a Nutella, cream cheese frosting which is so decadent and delicious. The topping has crushed hazelnuts which gives the cake a crunchy topping like the real chocolate.

Even though the cake has many steps to make, it is quite easy to make and makes your special day even more special.

    Ingredients

    • Cake Batter - the cake batter is made with simple ingredients like plain flour, sugar, hazelnut powder, baking powder, milk, butter, eggs and vanilla.
    • Nutella Frosting - The frosting which I made is a cream cheese Nutella frosting. I used cream cheese, confectioners sugar, Nutella, whipping cream.
    • Hazelnut Sauce - You need Nutella, cream, chocolate and crushed hazelnuts to make the cake topping.
    • Ferrero Rocher Chocolates - Use this to decorate the cake.

    Step by Step Pictures

    Pre preparation

1)Preheat oven to 180 degree C (360 degree f). Line two 8 inch cake pan with parchment paper and grease it well with oil. Set aside.

    Wet Ingredients

2)Now lets make the wet ingredients. Take butter in a sauce pan. Pour in milk over the butter. Heat this on low until the butter is melted completely.

3)Once butter is melted, take it off the heat and add some vanilla extract.

4)Mix well. Set this aside to cool.

    Dry Ingredients

5)Take hazelnuts in a blender and powder them fine. Don't grind too much else the mixture may get paste like.

6)Instead of hazelnuts, you can use cashews or almonds too.

7)Lets mix the dry ingredients. Take plain flour and cocoa powder in a bowl.

8)Add in the ground hazelnuts and baking powder.

9)Mix this really well with a whisk and set aside.

    Whisking Eggs

10)Take eggs in a large bowl. Make sure the bowl is clean and dry without any moisture so the eggs whip up faster.

11)Use an electric beater to whip the eggs until frothy.

12)Add in sugar and whip till frothy.

13)Now the sugar is well mixed into the eggs.

    Make Chocolate Hazelnut Cake Batter

14)Sprinkle in the dry ingredients which we mixed earlier.

15)Use a spatula to gently fold the flour gently into the beaten eggs.

16)Now pour in the milk and butter mixture.

17)Fold the batter gently until the batter is incorporated.

    Baking Cakes

18)Divide the cake batter between prepared cake pans. Spread evenly. Place it into the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes.

19)My cake got too dark on top, but not to worry, because I am going to cut it off anyway. Now set aside the cake until it gets cool completely.

    Make Nutella Frosting

20)For Making frosting, whip up cream until stiff peaks forms. You can use heavy cream or non dairy whipping cream.

21)Now take cream cheese, nutella in a bowl.

    22)Add in icing sugar.

23)Whip this until it gets thick and creamy.

24)Fold the whipped cream into the creamed Nutella cream cheese mix.

25)Whip this until thick and creamy.

    Assembling cake

26)Take the cooled chocolate cake, slice of the top of the cake so it is level on top.

27)Slice each cake into 2 middle so you get 4 layers of cake.

28)Now place one cake slice on a serving plate. Arrange sheets of parchment paper on the sides of the cake. So you can pull it off once the cake is decorated.

Brush the top of cake generously with some milk.

    29)Top with some frosting.

    30)Spread evenly.

31)Place another cake on top, brush with milk.

32)Top with frosting. Spread evenly. Repeat this until all 4 layers is assembled.

33)Now frost the whole cake with frosting. Once it is frosted, place it into the fridge for 2 to 4 hours until the cake is set.

    Make Topping

34)Now take hazelnuts in a ziploc bag, we are going to roughly crush the hazelnuts.

35)I used a rolling pin to crush them roughly.

36)Now take Nutella, milk in a sauce pan.

37)Add in chopped chocolates. Now place this on low heat and cook gently until the chocolate melts.

38)Now the chocolate has melted. Set this aside till the chocolate sauce cools completely.

39)Add in the roasted crushed hazelnuts.

40)Mix well. Thats it your hazelnut chocolate topping is ready.

    Decorating cake

41)Take the cake from fridge. Pour the chocolate hazelnut sauce all over the cake. Spread it gently so it drips all the side of the cake.

42)Now take some ferrero rocher chocolate.

43)Peel off the wrapper, use this to decorate the cake.

44)Place the chocolates all over the cake.

    45)Slice and serve.

    46)Enjoy.
