These cookies make a great holiday treat as well as a great christmas present. You can put them in small plastic cover, tie them with a ribbon and you are good to go..
Jam – as needed (Use any of your favourite jam)
Icing Sugar / Confectioners Sugar – 3 to 4 tblspn
Royal Icing – 1 batch (RECIPE HERE)
Roll the dough into 1/4 inch thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
Now decorate it as you wish and let it set for an hour or so and store this in a air tight container.
Take all your ingredients |
Take soft butter in a bowl |
add in sugar |
add in vanilla |
use a beater to whip this up |
now it is well creamed |
add in one egg at a time |
whip well |
add another egg |
whip till creamy |
add in flour |
add in baking powder and salt |
mix well |
make it into a soft dough |
spread a sheet of plastic wrap |
place the dough in |
wrap it well |
chill this for couple of hours |
Take half of the dough |
Warm it with your hands and shape it into round |
Roll it out |
Now take your christmas cookie cutters |
dip it in flour first |
cut out cookies |

I made these cute teddy for my lil one..Gingerbread men and teddy are her favourite |
You can use a straw and make a small hole on top of the cookies, so you can hang them as christmas decorations on tree |
I made many other as well |
Arrange it in a foil lined baking sheet |
Bake for 12 to 15 mins till the cookies get light golden around the edges |
remove it and cool it completely |
Now lets make the icing bag..Take a triangle shape of parchment paper |
roll it like this |
then keep on rolling |
tape it with cellotape |

Add in colour and mix well |
Now place a icing bag in a small cup |
fill with icing |
pinch the edges |
all done |
Spread a newspaper down, place a cooling rack on top and arrange cookies over it |
Now decorate them as you like |
top with sprinkles |
Let them dry for a hour or so and enjoy |
Lovely. But I can't try as we don't use eggs at home
i am not having icing sugar can i use normal sugar powder instead of icing
