    Meatball Sandwich Recipe

    A chicken meatball sandwich is a flavourful and a satisfying dish which can be made with tender chicken meatballs, a rich and tangy tomato based sauce, fresh herbs and a plenty of gooey cheese. Which is all packed between the crispy bread slices.

    This sandwich offers a perfect blend of soft, cheesy and crunchy texture in every bite. This is ideal for lunch, dinner or even as a filling snacks. This dish combines comfort food vibes with irresistible street style flavours.

    When i made my spaghetti and meatball recipe, I reserved some sauce to make sandwiches the next day. I loved it so much, that I wanted to post it as a separate recipe. You can know my love for sandwiches never stop and my sandwich list in my recipe index is getting bigger and longer.

    I have no ideas how to sandwich will turn out when i made it, but once i finished making it and took a bite, I was stunned. Because it was so good. I added some fried eggs and cheese in the sandwich and it made it so delicious.

The combination of cheese, bread and chicken never fails to make me happy. This dish is a great way to enjoy chicken differently. This is a great twist from regular curries or stir fries.

    Ingredients

    For meatballs: Minced chicken absorbs flavours and forms the base of the meatballs. Spices like chilli and pepper as seasoning. I also add coriander leaves, chillies, parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs and Italian seasoning to make meat ball. 

    Tomato Sauce: tomatoes forms the tangy base of the sauce. For flavouring add in garlic, onion, green chillies, oregano, basil, ketchup, chilli, pepper, salt, sugar and coriander leaves. 

    For Sandwich: White bread slices main ingredient of the sandwich. I also add cheese, herbs and butter.

    Hacks

    • Toast bread before assembling. It keeps the bread crisp even after adding sauce.
    • Add cheese inside the meatballs. It creates a gooey surprise in eveybite.
    • Use a sandwich press. It ensures even toasting and melts the cheese perfectly.
    • Mix breadcrumbs with milk. It makes meatballs softer and juicer.
    • Make sauce in bulk. Store it in fridge or freezer for quick sandwichs later.
    • Add a layer or lettuce or spinach. This brings freshness and crunchy to balance the richness.

    Chicken Meatball Sandwich (Step by Step Pictures)

     
    Take all your ingredients
    Start by grating ½ cup of parmesan cheese..Hubby got this for me from russia, you can use cheddar cheese or amul cheese cube if you dont have parmesan
    So flavourful..
    Take minced chicken in a bowl, u can use
    any ground meat as you like
    add in some chilli powder and pepper powder
    crumble some bread
    add in salt
    now for some freshness, add in chillies and
    coriander leaves
    Now add a good amount of italian seasoning
    add in the cheese
    mix well
    shape it into small balls
    all done
    heat olive oil in a pan
    drop meatballs in
    fry on all sides till you get nice golden colour
    remove to a plate

    For Tomato Sauce

    now chop up some tomatoes, you can use a
    can of tomato puree
    take it in a blender
    Make it into a smooth puree
    Now in the oil which u fried the meatball, add
     more if needed
    drop in a good amount of finely chopped garlic
    add in some chopped onion, i used white onions..
    saute till translucent
    add in little salt and sugar
    saute till it starts to get little golden
    add in the tomato puree...I left the tomatoes puree little chunky
    add in chilli and pepper powder
    in goes some tomato ketchup
    mix well..now cook this down till oil separates
    the colour will get deeper as you cook the tomatoes
    now pour water..
    and take your herbs..i used basil and oregano..This gives nice aroma
    add them in
    mix well
    add in mearballs 
    mix well..cook this for 15 mins
    i like my sauce to be thicker
    add in some chopped coriander leaves
    mix well. sauce done
    Take your sandwich ingredients
    Drizzle some oil in a tawa
    crack open couple of eggs
    you have to cook it on both sides
    Now take couple of bread slices
    place the fried egg over the bread
    top with lots of mozarella cheese
    and some chopped coriander leaves
    top with the meatball mix
    cover with another slice of bread
    now put this in tawa, dont forget the put some 
    butter on the tawa
    cook on both sides till golden
    done

    Equipment

    Ingredients
      

    For Meatballs

    • 250 grams Minced Chicken - 250 grams
    • ½ teaspoon Red Chilli powder
    • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
    • 2 tablespoon Coriander Leaves finely chopped
    • 1 teaspoon Green Chilli finely chopped
    • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese grated
    • 2 tablespoon Bread Crumbs
    • 1 teaspoon Salt or to taste
    • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
    • 2 tablespoon Oil

    For Sauce

    • 5 large Tomato chopped & Pureed
    • 2 tablespoon Garlic peeled, finely chopped
    • 1 medium Onions peeled, chopped finely
    • 1 no Green Chilli finely chopped
    • ½ teaspoon Dried Oregano finely chopped
    • ½ teaspoon Dried Basil
    • 3 tablespoon Tomato ketchup
    • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
    • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
    • Water as needed
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 teaspoon Sugar
    • 2 tablespoon Coriander leaves finely chopped

    For Sandwich

    • 10 slices White Bread
    • 5 large Eggs
    • 1¼ cup Mozzarella Cheese
    • 5 tablespoon Coriander Leaves chopped finely
    • 5 tablespoon Butter
    • 5 teaspoon Oil to fry eggs

    Instructions
     

    • Start by mixing all the ingredients for meatballs. Shape into a balls. Heat oil in a pan, drop meatballs in and fry till it gets nice colour. Drain and set aside.
    • In the same oil, add in garlic, onion and chilli. Saute for a min. Add in salt and sugar and cook till it gets golden. Add in tomato puree, chilli and pepper powder. Cook till the sauce is reduced. Now add in water, oregano, basil and mix well.
    • Drop meatballs in and cook on a low heat for 15 mins. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Sauce done.
    • Drizzle oil in a pan and fry couple of eggs.
    • Now take a bread slice, top with egg, cheese, coriander leaves, meat ball and cover with another slice of bread. Toast this in a buttered tawa till golden on both sides.
    • Serve hot.

    • Keep meatballs uniform in size. This ensures even cooking and prevents some from drying out.
    • Don't over mix the meat. It can make the meatballs dense instead of tender.
    • Simmer the sauce gently. Low heat helps flavours develop without burning the tomatoes.
    • Drain excess oil. It prevents the sandwich from becoming greasy.

    Grilled chicken supreme sandwich: In this recipe marinated grilled chicken breast is paired with fresh veggies, cheese and flavourful sauce for a hearty smoky bite. 

    White sauce chicken sandwich: It is Creamy and rich in flavour. It is made with shredded chicken coated in a smooth white sauce. It is often combined with herbs and serves between soft bread slices

    Chicken salami sandwich: This is a quick and savory sandwich . Which is made with slices of chicken salami layered with cheese, veggies and sauces for a desi style taste.
