    WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS

Baby led weaning : Mango frozen yogurt is a versatile recipe that you can customize and serve this for infants who started their solid journey. Just blend mangoes, yogurt or greek yogurt. Strain, refrigerate or freeze or serve it immediately to your kids.

It will be a great finger licking food for them. You can even try with other fruit options like berries, pineapple, bananas and avocado. It is a fantastic way to introduce fruit to your kids.

Natural goodness : The recipes use wholesome ingredients like mango, hung curd and sweetener. Mangoes are naturally sweet and have a rich taste and texture. Homemade hung curd is also creamy and has a little tangy taste that balances the sweetness of mango. These ingredients blended together creates a healthy ice cream or frozen dessert that is much better than the store bought ones.

    Ingredients

Ripe mangoes : This is the main star ingredient. Use fresh good quality ripe mangoes as they taste naturally sweet and juicy. You can use any variety of mango like banganapalli, alphonso, kesar of your choice.

Hung curd : Hung curd is nothing but a thick and creamy yogurt, It helps to achieve smooth texture and rich taste. You can substitute with greek yogurt, as it is low in calories and high in protein.

Sugar : I have added sugar for the extra sweetness and balances the tangy flavour of curd. You can substitute with other sweeteners of your choice like condensed milk, honey, maple syrup or coconut sugar.

Optional : Adding lemon juice is completely optional. But when you add it enhances the flavour of mango and balances the sweetness. To make it nuttier, add a handful of chopped nuts like cashew nut, almond, walnut.

    Hacks

Freezing fruits : This is one of the easy ways to store and preserve seasonal fruits. Wash, peel the skin and remove the stone or seed. Chop the mango into bite size pieces, lay them on a baking tray, freeze until frozen. Transfer the frozen fruit to a ziploc bag, airtight container for longer storage.

Tangy twist : Add a splash of lemon juice to enhance the flavour of mango and give a slight tangy taste.

Hard after freezing : Frozen yogurt can become too hard after freezing. So make sure to thaw them 5 minutes before serving. Also dip the scooping spoon in warm water for a second to easily scoop the ice cream and also result in perfect shape and texture.

Flavour add - ins : To infuse more flavour and texture to the dessert, add some chopped mangoes, nuts like cashew nut, almond, walnut or chocolate chips in the blended mixture, stir and freeze it. You will have a nice nutty bite in between the creamy layers.

Popsicle mould : Want to indulge in small individual portions, then pour the blended mixture into popsicle mould, freeze overnight. It is a refreshing and guilt free treat for people of all ages.

    Expert Tips

    • Add a drop of vanilla or mango essence for added flavour.
    • Substitute regular yogurt with greek yogurt for more creamy and thick dessert.
    • You can even chill the mango before blending for better texture and also it sets quickly in the freezer.
    • Use small containers, ice cube trays or popsicle mould for freezing and storing. This will be useful for easy scoping and un0moulding.
    • Garnish with mint leaves on top before serving.

    Storage & Serving

Store the mango frozen yogurt in an airtight container and keep it in the freezer. Also cling wrap on top before closing the lid to prevent ice crystal formation. It stays good in the freezer for 2 to 4 weeks.

You can serve a scoop of mango frozen yogurt in a bowl with added toppings like chopped mangoes, chopped nuts, chocolate chips or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

It can also be served as parfait by layering mango frozen yogurt, granola or oats, nuts and fruits in a glass jar. You can enjoy it for breakfast or as a mid morning snack.

Lovely. By the way the colour looks a deep orange that I first mistook it to be carrot ice cream. Is it because of the lighting? Good try with hung curd. Your display cup looks cute. Good job Arthi.
