    Easy tawa chicken recipe is a quick and tasty dish that we can make at home with simple ingredients. It is made with boneless chicken, chilli garlic paste, pav bhaji masala and vegetables like onions, capcicum and tomatoes.

    Ever since I made a batch of pav bhaji masala, I have been looking for recipe to use them up. I thought of making a quick chicken dish using that and i made this. It was simply delicious, spicy, tangy and everything you want a chicken to be.

    This tawa chicken is loaded with proteins. This dish is a  filling one but it does not feel heavy on our stomach. The vegetables in this recipe gives nice texture and colour which makes the dish more appealing and tastes good. It can be made quickly which is perfect for busy schedules.

    Ingredients

    Chicken: This is the main ingredient of the recipe. It is full of protein. 

    Rice flour: This helps to make the chicken crispy when fried.

    Maida & Cornstarch: It gives the coating a smooth texture and holds everything together.

    Chilli garlic paste: It adds a spicy and good flavours to the dish.

    Sugar: It balances the spiciness and gives little sweetness to the recipe.

    Pav bhaji masala: The important spice mix that adds the taste to this dish. This adds a unique taste to the dish.

    Vegetables: Onions, capcicum and tomatoes are used in this recipe. This gives fresh, crunchy and sweet flavours  to the dish.

    Step by Step Pictures

    1)take chicken in a bowl. I am using boneless chicken breast.

    2)Add in rice flour, cornstarch and plain flour.

    3)Add in chilli garlic sauce.

    4)Sprinkle some salt.

    5)Mix this really well.

    6)Heat oil for deep frying. Drop chicken in and fry till golden brown.

    7)It will take just 1 minute to fry the chicken.

    8)Strain the fried chicken using a slotted spoon.

    9)Set aside.

    10)Heat oil in a skillet. Add in chilli garlic paste.

    11)Stir fry for a minute.

    12)Now season with salt and sugar.

    13)Add in pav bhaji masala powder.

    14)Toss well.

    15)Add the fried chicken into the masala.

    16)Toss well to coat.

    17)Now add in thinly sliced onions, tomatoes and bell peppers.

    18)Toss on high heat for couple of minutes.

    19)Tawa chicken is ready.

    20)Add coriander leaves.

    21)Serve.

    Expert tips

    • Use the chicken which is in room temperature. It cooks evenly and stays juicy.
    • Let the chicken rest for few minutes after frying. It helps to stay the chicken crispy.
    • Don't add too much water. It makes the dish into gravy.
    • Keep stirring the chicken while cooking. It prevents from sticking and coats the masala well.
    • Add few drops of lemon juice at the end. This gives fresh and tangy flavour to the dish.

    Variations

    Tawa paneer recipe: This is a tasty and easy dish whoch is made with soft panner, spices and vegetables in a hot pan. It is a great choice for a quick snack or dinner recipe. It goes good with naan and chapati.

    Tawa mushroom recipe:  It is a spicy and flavorful dish where mushrooms are cooked with garlic onions and masala on the tawa. This is a flavourful dish and light on stomach. It is perfect for lunch and also as a side dish.

    Prawn tawa roast: This is a delicious seafood dish where prawns are cooked with spices in a hot tawa. It has a smoky flavour and it is best served with rice and parotta.

    Egg pepper tawa fry: It is a simple and spicy dish where boiled or scrambled eggs are cooked with pepper and other spices on a tawa. It is a simple dish buy tastes great.

    Can I use chicken with bones?

    Yes. But boneless chicken cooks faster and easy to eat.

    Can I add other vegetables?

    Yes. You can add carrots, beans and peas.

    How long does it take to cook?

    It takes about 20-30 mins from start to finish.

    Can I use butter instead of oil?

    Yes. Butter gives rich taste and aroma to the dish.

    Can I make it without pav bhaji masala?

    Yes you can. Use other spice mixes or just use chilli and garlic for flavour.

    Ingredients

    For Chicken

    • 250 grams Boneless Chicken Breast chopped into small pieces
    • 1 tablespoon Rice Flour
    • 1 tablespoon All Purpose Flour
    • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
    • 1 tablespoon Chilli Garlic Paste
    • Salt to taste
    • Oil for Deepfrying

    For Masala

    • 1 tablespoon Oil
    • 2 tablespoon Chilli Garlic Paste
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 teaspoon Sugar
    • 1 tablespoon Pav Bhaji Masala Powder
    • 1 medium Onions peeled & sliced thinly
    • ½ medium Capsicum / Bell Peppers sliced thinly
    • 1 medium Tomatoes sliced thinly
    • ¼ cup Coriander Leaves finely chopped

    Instructions

    • Take all the ingredient given in the chicken list, except oil and mix well, add little water as needed.
    • Drop it in hot oil and fry till golden and cooked. Drain onto some paper towel. Set aside.
    • Heat 1 tblspn oil in a kadai, add in chilli garlic paste and saute for a min or so.
    • Season with salt and sugar. Add in pav bhaji masala and mix well.
    • Add in fried chicken and toss well, add in onions, capsicum and tomatoes. Toss on high heat for 3 to 5 mins.
    • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
