    Malaysian Mango Salad is a refreshing salad made with ripe mangoes, sambal, fresh coriander leaves. Spicy and addictive mango salad which has a kick from the sambal added. Enjoy this with your summer barbeque or on its own. Learn how to make mango salad with step by step pictures.

    Malaysian Mango Salad

    A simple refreshing salad best for summer. This salad has a little bit of kick to it because of the sambal we add into this. This dish gets its Malaysian flavour by the addition of sambal to this. Please check my Nasi lemak for the sambal recipe. So go ahead and make this dish and tell me how it turned out.

    About Mango Salad

    Salads are an important dish to serve for any gatherings or party. Specially if it is summer barbecue or get togethers. Making a batch of refreshing salad elevates the other dishes. Specially this summer mango salad is one of the best salad you could serve.

    This is a Malaysian inspired salad recipe that has chilli paste added which makes this super delicious. The slight spice adds a new dimension of flavour to your salad.

    Mango Salad Ingredients

    Mango - use ripe mango for making this salad. Make sure the mango is sweet but still slightly firm so it holds in the salad better.

    Fresh herbs - I used mint and coriander leaves, you can use basil as well.

    Sambal - store bough sambal oelek can be used or homemade.

    Salt & Sugar - taste and adjust the seasoning as per your liking.

    Grab your ingredients
     
     
    Cube your mangoes
     
     
    salt and sugar
     
     
    Add a pinch of sambal
     
     
    Add in coriander and mint leaves
     
     
    toss well

    Expert Tips

    • Use ripe mangoes which is slightly firm so it holds it shape.
    • you can add a drizzle of lemon juice for freshness.
    • Cooked cubed chicken can be tossed into the salad.
    • Fresh basil can be added into the salad.

    Serving & Storage

    This mango salad taste best on its own, but you can enjoy with summer barbeque,  grilled or barbeque chicken. Leftover salad can be stored in fridge upto 3 days.

    Equipment

    • Mixing Bowl

    Ingredients

    • 1 large Ripe Mango peeled and cubed
    • 1 tbsp Fresh Mint Leaves finely chopped
    • 1 tbsp Fresh Coriander leaves finely chopped
    • 2 tsp Sambal Oelek
    • 1 tsp Salt or to taste
    • 1 tsp Sugar

    Instructions

    • Mix everything together in a bowl. Place them in fridge for 30 minutes for the flavours to melt together. Serve.

      Normally we malaysians use unripe mango for this.. We add light soy sauce, sugar, n cut green chillies in small pieces n toss it all together 🙂
