This recipe is a simple layered finger jello. I used four packet of jelly for this, but you can do as much layer as you want. But the creamy condensed milk layer in between the jelly makes it more tasty. These are not your jiggly wiggly jello recipe, these are more firm and pick and eat kind of jelly. So it makes a great party dish.

    About Layered Finger Jello Recipe

Layered finger jello is made with instant flavoured jello packets, unflavoured gelatin, and sweetened condensed milk which gives the jello a firm texture so it can be easily cut into neat finger sized pieces without breaking apart.

The creamy white layer is made with sweetened condensed milk which adds sweet and creamy taste in-between jelly.

To make this dessert, each jelly layer is prepared separately, poured into the greased pan and allowed to set before adding the next layer. The creamy condensed milk layer is made in the same way and alternated between the colorful layers to create the rainbow kind of look.

Although this dessert is simple to make, it does require a little patience. Each layer needs to be chilled and set completely before the next one is added.

And the jelly should cool slightly before pouring to keep the layers clean and intact. The extra time is worth it when you look at the finished dessert.

    Ingredients

    • Jelly packets : To make the colorful jello, I have used orange, mango, raw mango and strawberry flavoured jelly packets.
    • Gelatin : Unflavoured gelatin is used to make the creamy milk layer.
    • Condensed milk : Sweetened Condensed milk is used to make the creamy milk jelly.
    • Oil : Oil is used to grease the pan on which jelly is going to set. It prevents the jello from sticking and makes it easier to remove the jelly.

    Step by Step Pictures

    Making Milk Layer

1)Start by making the milk layer. Take gelatin powder in a bowl.

2)Pour cold water over it and mix well. Let it sit for 10 minutes for the gelatin to bloom.

3)Now take sweetened condensed milk in a bowl.

4)Pour in 1 cup of hot water into the condensed milk.

5)Add in the bloomed gelatin mix into the condensed milk.

6)I placed the bowl in microwave to heat it lightly so the gelatin will melt. You can heat this in a sauce pan also. Set this aside till needed.

7)Grease a baking pan or jello setting mould with oil and set aside.

    First Jello Layer

8)Now lets make the first layer of jelly. I am using orange jello packet. Take the contents of the jello packet in a bowl.

9)Pour 1 cup of hot water over the jelly mixture and mix well until completely dissolved.

10)Pour the jello mixture into a baking pan.

11)Place the tray in freezer so it can set faster. mine got set in just 10 minutes.

    Layering Jello

12)Now pour ⅓ rd of this milk mixture over the set orange jelly layer.

13)Place the tray back into the freezer and let it set for 10 more minutes.

14)Look the milk layer is set properly. Now lets make the next jello layer.

15)For the second layer. Take raspberry jello packet contents in a bowl.

16)Pour 1 cup of hot water over the jello packet. Mix well until all the mixture is melted completely. Let this mixture cool for 5 minutes so we can pour this over the milk layer.

17)Pour the jello mixture carefully over the milk layer.

18)Place this baking pan in the freezer so the raspberry jello sets faster.

19)After 10 minutes the jello is set.

20)Now pour ⅓rd of the creamy milk gelatin mixture over this jello layer.

21)Now place this back into the freezer to set for 10 more minutes.

22)Mean while lets make the next layer. This time I am using mango flavoured jello. Take the contents in a bowl.

23)Pour in 1 cup of hot water into the mixture and mix well so all the powder melts completely. Set aside to cool for 10 minutes.

24)Pour this mixture over the creamy milk layer now.

25)Place the baking tray back into the freezer and let it set for 10 more minutes.

26)Now pour the last ⅓rd of the creamy milk layer over the mango jello.

27)Place this back into the freezer to set before we pour the last jello layer.

28)This time I made lime jello using 1 cup of hot water. Mix well until completely melted and let it cool for 5 minutes.

29)Pour this over the set milk layer and let it set in the fridge this time for 1 hour.

30)This is how it looks once it is set completely.

    Serving

31)Use a sharp knife to cut it into pieces. Gently de mould the jello.

32)Finger jello is ready to serve.

    33)Serve.

    Expert Tips

    • Let each layer cool and set slightly before pouring it over the previous one. This keeps the layers neat and prevents mixing.
    • Make sure each layer is fully set before adding the next one. If it still feels sticky, keep it a few more minutes in the refrigerator.
    • Bloom the gelatin in cold water for a few minutes before adding hot water. This allows it to dissolve evenly and prevents lumps.
    • If the condensed milk mixture thickens while waiting between layers, microwave it for a few seconds and stir until smooth before using.
    • For the clean, neat slices, refrigerate the finished finger jello overnight before cutting and serving.

    Storage and Serving

Store leftover finger jello in an airtight container. It stays well in the refrigerator for a week. These colorful finger jello are perfect ideas to serve for parties, special occasions and holiday treats.

    FAQ

    Q. Why are my layers mixing together ?

The new layer may be slightly warm or the previous layer hasn't set fully. Let each layer cool slightly and chill until firm before adding the next.

    Q. How long does each layer take to set ?

Each layer most probably takes 10 to 30 minutes in the refrigerator to set.

    Q. Can I use different jelly flavours ?

Yes, you can mix and match your favorite colors and flavours to your preference.

For a pack of jello, u are adding 1cup of hot water & pouring this mix on top of chilled jello..........isn't this melt the chilled jello & make the colours mix?????????????

I'm asking this as I had tried your broken glass jelly pudding recipe & at the end the colours were mixed....... I had removed the jellies from fridge & sliced it into cubes as u said....but by that time the jellies started to melt.....when I poured custard mix over it the colours were spread (overlapped) & was not looking gud. Can u give an advice to make it as u shown in the photos....

@Anonymousfor me it didn't melt because of the 1 cup of hot water the jello will set hard and it wont be wiggly. So the water wont melt it down.

Hi Aarthi, I tried this recipe, jello was a wee bit watery and creamy layer stuck to the jello only on one side. Not sure what went wrong since I followed the recipe exactly. I used 240ml cup, is that the right quantity? Please advise
