    About Oats Smoothie

This is a great breakfast smoothie, Addition of oats make it even more tasty and healthy. This drink is best when consumed cold. Oats smoothie is great for weight loss since it is high in fibre which keeps you full longer.

We have a large container of oats and dates always in our pantry, so I make this more often now. I use dates which act as a natural sweetener in this, which reduces your sugar intake, isn’t that cool. You can try this with pomegranate, apples and any fruit of your choice. If you want to make this protein rich, try adding a scoop of protein powder when making this smoothie which turns this into oats protein shake.

Adding fruits in oats smoothie is a great addition of nutrition to your breakfast. Adding banana, apples and protein powder is very popular oatmeal smoothie variations.

    Oats Smoothie Ingredients

This is a simple and healthy recipe which requires minimum ingredients. You can make a delicious oats smoothie using just three ingredients. Additionally you can add more ingredients to make it even more nutritious. I have given all my variations of oats smoothie in this blog post.

    oats smoothie ingredients

    Oats

I prefer using rolled oats or quick cooking oats in my smoothie. Rolled oats is much healthier but I like to soak it prior in warm water or milk for at least 15 minutes to make it softer. Optionally you can dry roast oats in a pan for 2 to 3 mins until fragrant and use. I like to make my homemade oats flour and keep it handy for making this smoothie.

    Milk

You can use any milk as you prefer. If you are lactose intolerant and cannot consume dairy opt for any nut milk. I often make this with almond milk, soy milk. You can use coconut milk which adds a hint of coconut flavour in your drink.

    Sweetener

Natural sweeteners like dates, honey, maple syrup and honey can be used. Optionally you can use brown sugar, jaggery or regular sugar. If you don't prefer to use any sweetener at all, try adding one ripe banana in your smoothie which gives a mild sweetness and you will enjoy a cup of banana oats smoothie in not time at all.

    Optional

Ground flax seeds, chia seeds, strawberries, coffee, cocoa powder, chocolate, flavourings like vanilla extract is added.

What oats to put in smoothie?

    instant oats and rolled oats

There are wide variety of oats available in the market. Some of the most popular ones are rolled oats (old fashioned oats), quick oats (instant oats) and steel cut oats. For smoothies it is recommended to use quick oats or rolled oats.

It has strawberries, bananas, oats and flax seeds as well. And i used almond milk for this, so it is even more healthy. You can use normal milk as well. Oats Protein Shake Recipe

I call this my oats protein shake even thought it has chocolate in it. It is like having dessert for breakfast. I had some peanut butter cups on hand, and I thought of using them in cooking. I decided to make this smoothie. This smoothie turned out pretty good, i loved the peanut butter taste all through this which added a protein touch to the smoothie. Instead of peanut butter cups, add a healthy dollop of peanut butter and some cocoa powder for healthy alternatives.

    • 4 chocolate covered peanut butter cups
    • 1 cup milk
    • ¼ cup oats (dry roasted)
