    Rice & Sago Kheer Recipe with step by step pictures. This recipe is an Indian dessert made using sago, milk, and sugar. It is good to use in summers as it cools downs and maintains the internal body temperature.

    Rice & Sago Kheer

    A simple payasam but taste so special. I love the combo of crushed rice and sweet sago balls. I have a separate recipe for sago payasam but this one is a variation from that..I have quite a few payasam in this blog, if you need any more payasam recipe, let me know so i will post it..

    Ingredients for Rice & Sago Kheer

    • Basmati Rice - ½ cup
    • Sago / Javarisi - ½ cup
    • Milk - ½ liter + Extra if the payasam got thick
    • Sugar - ½ cup
    • Condensed Milk / Milkmaid - 3 tbsp
    • Ghee - 1 tsp
    • Cashewnuts - 3 tbsp chopped
    • Cardamom Powder - 1 tsp

    How to Make Rice & Sago Kheer

    1. Take basmati rice in a blender and powder them coarsely in a blender. Soak sago in water for 15 mins.
    2. Heat milk in a sauce pan and bring it to boil, add in ground rice and sago.
    3. Keep stirring till the rice and sago is cooked. It will take around 15 mins.
    4. Add in sugar and condensed milk and mix well. Simmer it and keep stirring for 5 mins.
    5. Add in cardamom powder and mix well.
    6. Fry cashewnuts in ghee till it is golden, add it to payasam and mix well.
    7. Serve.
