Samai Ulundu Kanji Recipe - Little Millet and Urad Dal Milk Porridge Recipe


Porridge / Kanji takes place atleast once in a week in my house. Normally it will be ulundu kanji or this wheat ulundu kanji. But I made this porridge yesterday and i loved it so much. Its been a while since i posted any millets recipes and many people has started asking me. I have already posted millets porridge before and this one is made with only samai. When i had this, i didn't miss my normal rice milk kanji and it tasted so yummy. You can have it with this thoran..

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 25 to 30 mins
Serves : 4 to 6

Ingredients:

Samai Arisi / Little Millet Rice - 1 cup
Urad dal with Skin - 1 cup
Garlic - 10 cloves peeled
Fenugreek Seeds / Methi / Vendayam - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Boiled Milk - 1/2 liter or as needed
Water - 5 cup

Method:

Wash rice and dal well. Take it in pressure cooker add all ingredients except milk and pressure cook for 3 whistle. Simmer for 15 mins. Turn off the heat and let the steam go all by itself.


Open the cooker and mix well.

Add in milk and mix well.

Serve warm.

i used samai rice, you can use any millet


take urad dal in a bowl


add samai rice


wash well


drain them and add to a pressure cooker


cover with water


add garlic


fenugreek seeds goes in


add salt as well


mix well..cover and cook


now the dal and rice is cooked


add in boiled milk


mix well


Serve
