Roasted Gram Dal Chutney Recipe - Pottu Kadalai Chutney Recipe

Coconut chutney takes place in our breakfast menu quite often, since hubby loves it so much. This version is a white coconut chutney. I will share a recipe of getti chutney soon which they serve with set dosa or bhajji bonda..It is a slight variation from this..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Serves : 4 to 5


Fresh Coconut - 1 cup grated packed measured
Roasted Gram Dal / Pori Kadalai / Pottu Kadalai - 1/2 cup
Green Chillies - 2
Salt to taste
Water as needed

For Seasoning:
Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi - a pinch
Curry Leaves - a sprig


Take all ingredients in a blender and make it into a fine puree by adding some water.

Pour that into a bowl and adjust the consistency with water.

Make seasoning by heating oil and crackling mustard, urad dal, asafoetida and curry leaves. Pour this over the curry and mix well.

Serve with idly or dosa.

add curry leaves if you have

pour over chutney

mix well
