Peanut nutella is a delightful twist of the classic nutella recipe. I have substituted the traditional hazelnut with peanut. This rich, creamy and chocolaty homemade spread is prepared using roasted peanuts, cocoa powder, brown sugar, chocolate chips and oil. Making it perfect for spreading on a toast, drizzling over desserts, or filling the pastries or simply enjoying by the spoonful !

Nutella with Peanuts
Nutella has stolen many hearts in every household due to its irresistible taste. My husband and I developed a bit of an addiction to this spread. But after reading numerous articles regarding the ingredients and health concerns, I’ve made a conscious decision to limit or stop its presence in my house, especially for my kids.

I couldn't get hazelnuts in my place, plus they are so expensive when I looked online. So I made this using peanuts. You can use almonds to make this as well. The recipe is pretty simple, when i used only cocoa powder to make it, I couldn't get the pure chocolate taste. So I used melted chocolate to it so it taste even better.
About Peanut Nutella
Instead of buying nutella from stores, I’ve decided to make it at home that has the delightful flavour but with healthy ingredients. Creating this nutella is a delightful experience from roasting the peanuts to blending them into a creamy, dreamy spread. The transformation that happens in the mixer / food processor is magical. When you add the cocoa powder, oil and sugar, the mixture becomes a silky smooth spread that is just irresistible.
WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE - What I love about this recipe is that it is an absolutely healthy alternative than the store bought version which contains excess sweetness and preservatives. This homemade version of nutella using peanuts tastes more satisfying and it’s just irresistible. Now, every time I make it, or even just taste this peanut nutella, it instantly transports me to the tasting of store bought nutella. Actually, this tastes far better than hazelnut nutella.
P’Nutella spread has a nutty aroma, smooth texture and is perfect for toast, dipping for fruit platter or can be enjoyed on its own. You have control over the ingredients, the sweetness and more natural sugars can be added and perfectly match your taste preference. This homemade spread is free from preservatives and palm oil, and it is a perfect alternative to store-bought spreads.

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS
Homemade peanut nutella works best for several reasons.
Versatile : Homemade peanut nutella recipe is so versatile, it can be used in a variety of ways from spreading on a toast, drizzling over ice cream or filling for pastries. This recipe is so adaptable, you can try with other nuts of your choice like almond, pistachio, walnut etc.
Healthy : Proteins are rich in protein and dietary fibre. You can control the amount of sugar and choose a healthy sweetener of your choice and make it a nutritious spread for your kids and family. This recipe does not include any added preservative and emulsifiers that are often included in the store bought ones.
Budget friendly : Peanuts are generally affordable compared to the hazelnuts, which are so expensive. You can create a budget friendly jar of love in your kitchen.
Ingredients

Peanuts : You should use raw, unsalted peanuts for this recipe. If you have store bought roasted peanuts, make sure to remove the skin.
Brown sugar : Brown sugar is an unrefined sugar that gives a rich flavour and moist texture. It adds subtle caramel-like sweetness to the spread. And also balance the bitterness of cocoa powder and dark chocolate. You can try other sweeteners like maple syrup, coconut sugar, agave etc. The consistency of the spread may differ when using other sweeteners.
Dark chocolate chips : Dark chocolate chips offer a rich, intense chocolate flavour to the spread. And also it contains less sugar compared to the milk chocolates.
Cocoa powder : I have unsweetened cocoa powder. It adds a rich and deep chocolate flavour and also balances the sweetness of the spread.
Vegetable oil : I have used vegetable oil. You can use any other oils like coconut oil, olive oil, hazelnut oil, also works well for this recipe. The oil helps to achieve a creamy and smooth consistency

Hacks
Roasting peanuts
There are two methods to roast the nuts. One is the stovetop method and the other is the oven roasting method.
Stove top : In a wide pan, dry roast the nuts in low flame. Once it is roasted, remove and cool down completely. Rub and remove the skin of the peanut using a towel or hand.
Oven method : Preheat the oven to 180*C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper or silicone baking mat, spread the nuts. Roast them in the oven for 10 minutes. Keep an eye on them, as it may brown soon. Every 3 minutes interval check them.
Sterilizing the jar : In a pan, bring water to boil. Immerse the jar in the boiling water. Let it be there for 5 to 10 minutes. Take them carefully out and dry them completely before storing the spread.
Melting chocolates : In a saucepan, add the chocolate chips and a spoon of oil, let them melt. Or you can place the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and melt them using the oven.
Grinding : Grind the roasted peanut in a large food processor or high speed blender. Grind them first, then start adding cocoa powder and oil. Grind until it reaches a thick, smooth paste consistency.
Blend : In a bowl, mix the ground paste with melted chocolates. Cool them completely before storing them.

Hi Aarthi....
Thanks for the receipe!
I tried this peanut nutella receipe yesterday night, I found no need of adding oil during the stage of blending Peanut, cocoa & brown sugar. When it starts clumpsing keep on blending for some more time and peanut releases its natural oil which is more than enough for its consistency.
Coral crue
oh yes, what blender have you used, Lekshmi? It must be something that is above 1000 watts to release the oil?
