Instant Tomato Rasam Recipe

You know i make quite a lot of rasam as a part of my lunch. I like to experiment with it. You wont believe how many rasam recipe i have in my blog, you have to check here to see it. And you wont believe that i have 4 more rasam recipe waiting to be posted. All these are because of my love for rasam. This is not like my other rasam. It can be made in less than 5 to 7 mins. It is like a pro, throw few things in a blender, puree it and boil it, thats it. You have a yummy rasam. 

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 3 to 4 mins
Serves : 4 to 5


Tomatoes - 2 medium size chopped
Garlic - 4 cloves
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Sugar - 1 tsp
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Tamarind Pulp - 2 tblspn
Oil - 1 tsp
Water - 2.5 cups
Coriander Leaves - a small handful finely chopped


Take all the ingredients except oil and water in a blender and make it into a smooth puree.

Heat oil in a pan, add the puree and add in water.

Bring it to boil, Once it reaches boil, turn the heat off and add in coriander leaves.

Mix well and serve with rice.

Take tomatoes in a blender

Add few garlic cloves

a tsp of cumin seeds

add salt, sugar, chilli, turmeric and pepper powder

a small piece of tamarind

time to blend

I made it into a smooth puree

heat oil in a pan

add the masala

pour some water

mix well

bring it to boil

turn the stove off, add coriander leaves


serve with rice

  2. hi aarthi, i just bumped into your blog and I must say your recipes are pretty amazing. I have the same love for rasam as you do.I always had this doubt though is rasam not supposed to be boiled much? like only till it comes to a boil?
