Garlic Green Chutney for Sandwich / Bombay Sandwich Chutney Recipe

This recipe is from tarla dalal's mumbai roadside snacks cookbook and i am kind of addicted to that cookbook and making quite a lot of recipes from it. Few weeks back i was in sandwich mood and i made quite a lot of sandwich from that book.

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Makes : 2 cup of chutney

Coriander Leaves - 1 cup
Mint Leaves - 1/2 cup
Spinach Leaves - 1/2 cup (any spinach, but palak is better)
Green Chillies - 5 to 6
Lemon Juice - 2 tblspn
Coconut - 2 tblspn grated
Garlic - 2 cloves
Salt to taste
Water - little for grinding


Take all the ingredients in a blender and puree till smooth.

Pour into a air tight container and store in fridge till use.

Take coriander leaves and mint leaves in a blender

add in some spinach leaves

add in salt

and some vinegar

add lots of green chillies

few garlic cloves

add in coconut

make it into a fine puree

make sandwiches or use it for chats..


  1. Hi aarthi, can you say is it lemon juice or vinegar? And how long can u store..

  2. @Manju..You can store this for 2 days in fridge and a month in freezer.

    When I used spinach leaves in the chutney. After that, some spinach raw flavour comes in ..at the time of eating..

    Please give me any solution for removing raw flavour....

  4. @Sushil Kumar Goelu must have added too much spinach, add very little like half cup. Addition of lemon juice will remove it.
