Carrot and Cabbage Kachumber Recipe - Gujarati Sidedish

Little sweet and tangy sidedish made with cabbage and carrots. This is a quick sidedish to make with carrots and cabbage and taste amazing with either rice and dal or roti..

Cooking Time : 15 mins
Serves: 4


Cabbage - 3 cups shredded
Carror - 1 large grated
Oil - 3 tblspn
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
Asafoetida / Kaya Podi / Hing - a pinch
Green Chilli - 1 chopped finely
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Powder / Malli podi - 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Sugar - 1 tsp
Lemon Juice - 1 tblspn
Coriander leaves a handful finely chopped


Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, cumin, asafoetida and let it sizzle.

Add in green chillies and mix well.

Add in cabbage and carrots and saute well. Cook for 5 to 7 mins.

Add in chilli, coriander and turmeric powder and mix well.

Add in salt and sugar and toss well.

Add in lemon juice and coriander leaves. Mix well.


Take all your ingredients

heat oil and add in mustard and cumin seeds

let it sizzle

add in asafoetida

add in green chilli

add in carrot and cabbage

toss well

cook this for few mins till it is cooked

add in turmeric, chilli and coriander powder

add salt and sugar

mix well

add in lemon juice

add in coriander leaves
