Coconut Chutney Recipe / Hotel Coconut Chutney Recipe

Coconut chutney takes place in our breakfast menu quite often, since hubby loves it so much. I make quite a few variations to it..Check out my coconut coriander chutney, coconut chilli chutney, coconut garlic chutney and my keralan style coconut chutney..You can also check out my coconut malli thogayal too..

This version is a white coconut chutney like the one which you get in hotel. I will share a recipe of getti chutney soon which they serve with set dosa or bhajji bonda..It is a slight variation from this..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Serves : 4 to 5

Ingredients:

Fresh Coconut - 1 cup grated packed measured
Roasted Gram Dal / Pori Kadalai / Pottu Kadalai - 3 tblspn
Green Chillies - 3 to 4
Garlic - 1 clove
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Salt to taste
Water as needed

For Seasoning:
Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - a sprig

Method:

Take all ingredients in a blender and make it into a fine puree by adding some water.

Pour that into a bowl and adjust the consistency with water.

Make seasoning by heating oil and crackling mustard and curry leaves. Pour this over the curry and mix well.

Serve with idly or dosa.

  11. Hi Aarthi,
Thank you for this recipe. Tried it, was really nice.
I used desiccated coconut soaked in hot water for 15 min as I did not have fresh ones and it was equally tasty.
