Drumstick Leaves Soup Recipe / Murungai Keerai Soup Recipe

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 20 to 25 mins
Serves : 4


Oil / Ghee - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1/2 tsp
Garlic - 5 fat cloves sliced thinly
Ginger - 1 tblspn grated
Shallots / Sambar Onion / Chinna Ulli - 4 chopped finely
Tomatoes - 1 large chopped finely
Drumstick Leaves - 4 cups packed
Water - 6 cups
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste


Heat oil in a sauce pan. Add in cumin seeds and let it sizzle.

Add in garlic, ginger and saute for a min.

Add in shallots and saute for 2 mins or so.

Add in tomatoes and cook till it turns mushy.

Add in drumstick leaves and saute for 4 to 5 mins.

Add in water and cook for 5 mins. Season with salt and pepper.

Serve hot.


Take all your ingredients

Wash your drumstick leaves

heat oil in a pan

add in some cumin seeds

in goes garlic and a lots of it

add in some grated ginger

Saute for a min

Add in some shallots / sambar onion

Saute till it is translucent

Add in tomatoes

Saute till it turns mushy

Add in drumstick leaves

saute well

pour in water

mix well and cook for 10 mins..

add in salt and pepper

mix well
