I would say that this recipe will be a easy but tasty snack which you can make for diwali..I made it in minutes and it tasted divine..So crispy and so yummy..I have already shared a spicy version before, this is a sweet one..
Sweet Diamond Cuts
Coconut milk murukku
Moong Dal Murukku
This is a crispy fried snack, which is coated in a sugar syrup which has cooked really well, so it creates a sugary crust over the cuts..Some people add sugar to the dough and make, but i prefer it this way. It is more tasty..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 20 to 25 mins
Makes : 3 cups to 4 cups
All Purpose Flour / Maida - 1 cup
Salt a pinch
Ghee or Butter - 1 tblspn
Water as needed
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Water - 1/4 cup
Oil for Deep Frying
Take flour, salt, ghee in a bowl and rub with your fingers till it resembles a coarse crumb. Add water slowly and knead to a dough. Let it rest for 30 mins or so.
Now take a small portion of dough and roll it little thin. Now cut it into small diamond shape.
Heat oil for deep frying, drop the diamond in hot oil and fry till golden. Drain and set aside.
Now make the syrup. Heat sugar and water in a pan, mix well till sugar is melted, now boil it and cook till two string consistency. It will be thick.
Now add the fried diamond cuts in this and coat it well. As it cools the sugar will harden.
Cool this completely and store it in a air tight container. This stays good for 2 weeks..

|rub well using your hands|
|now it resembles coarse crumbs|
|slowly add water|
|knead it to a soft dough|
|take a small portion of the dough|
|roll it thin|
|use a pizza cutter to cut small diamonds|
|look pretty diamonds|
|use a spatula to remove the cuts|
|now drop it in hot oil|
|fry them till crispy and golden|
|now it is done|
|fry till crispy|
|now make syrup..take sugar in a pan|
|add little water|
|bring it to a boil and cook till it gets thick|
|you will see that the syrup has got very thick..|
|the consistency is almost 2 string|
|now add in the fried cuts|
|toss in the syrup|
|it will coat them well|
|now when u cool them down, the sugar will get hard and coat the cuts|
