This post has been sitting in my drafts folder for quite a while, i made this burfi during diwali, so guess the number of months. Finally it is searched and edited ready to post and go live. One of the delicious burfi to try during festivals.

This cool thing about this burfi is, it is double layered. But you can either make it as plain vanilla burfi or chocolate burfi. Both ways it is fun. You can check out my plain maida burfi and other burfi recipes too..

    Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 45 mins to 1 hour
    Makes : 10 to 12 slices
    Recipe Source : Raks Kitchen

    Ingredients:

    For Vanilla Layer:
All Purpose Flour - ½ cup
    Ghee - ¼ cup melted
    Sugar - 1 cup
    Water - ½ cup
    Vanilla Essence - ½ tsp

    For Chocolate Layer:
All Purpose Flour - ½ cup
    Ghee - ¼ cup melted
    Sugar - 1 cup
    Water - ½ cup
Unsweetened Cocoa Powder - 1 tblspn mixed with 1 tblspn of water
Dark Chocolate Chips - 1 tblspn (Optional)
    Method:
First grease a square pan well with ghee.
Start by making vanilla layer. Take sugar and water in a kadai, Mix well till it is melted. Simmer the pan.
In the mean time, i heated some ghee in a pan and add some flour to it, fry till nice aroma comes from it. Turn off the heat and set aside.
Now check on the sugar syrup, increase the heat and boil it till it reaches one string consistency, if you lift the ladle from the syrup, the last drop falling from the spoon forms a string like consistency. Once it reaches this stage, TURN OFF THE HEAT..
Add the fried flour mixture and keep stiring. At a point thte mix will get thick. Now spread this mix in the greased tray. Smoothen it. Make it in thin layer, since this burfi is going to have two layers.
Now lets make the chocolate layer. First mix cocoa powder in some water to form a thick paste and keep aside. Take sugar and water in a kadai, Mix well till it is melted. Simmer the pan.

You have over mixed it. Once it get thick, pour it, if you keep mixing then it will dry out and get powdery
