Brown Rice Egg Biryani Recipe / Egg Dum Biryani Recipe


This is my latest favorite biryani because it is so healthy and i dont feel guilty eating it and i love eggs a lot. i have managed to share most of the biryani recipe which i have here, so it will be easy for you to browse..And also check out my collection of biryani..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 1 hour
Serves : 3 to 4

Ingredients:

Brown Rice - 1 cup (Cook as per this method)
Oil - 2 tblspn 
Cinnamon / Pattai - 2 cm piece
Cardamom / Yelakai - 4 pods
Cloves / Krambu - 4
Bay Leaf - 1
Onion - 2 large sliced thinly
Green Chilli - 2 slit
Salt to taste
Tomato - 1 large sliced thinly
Coriander Powder / Malli Podi - 1 tblspn
Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
Cumin Powder /Jeera Podi  - 1 tsp
Egg - 4 to 6 boiled
Mint Leaves - 1/2 cup chopped finely
Coriander Leaves - 1/2 cup chopped finely

Method:

Cook brown rice as per this method. Drain and set aside. 

Heat oil and ghee in a pot with lid. Add in cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, bay leaf and let it sizzle for a min.

Add in onions, green chillies. Add some salt and mix well. Cook this till golden brown. Now remove half of the onion mix in a plate and set aside.

In the remaining onion mix, add in ginger garlic paste and saute for 30 sec or so.

Add in tomatoes and cook till it softens a little.

Add in spice powder and mix well.

Add in curd, coriander leaves and mint leaves. Mix well.

Now add in the eggs and toss well in the masala. the masala has to be thick.

Layer the cooker rice over this, sprinkle with the onions, coriander leaves and mint leaves.

Cover with a lid and put this pot over a tawa which is kept on a low heat.

Dum cook this for 15 to 20 mins.

Remove it and mix the rice gently.

Serve hot.

Start by cooking brown rice by draining method,

Heat ghee and oil in a pot with a tight lid.

Add in cinnamon, bay leaf, cardamom and cloves

add in sliced onions and green chillies

sprinkle some salt over

cook till it turns golden

now remove half of the onion mix 

set this aside, you will be needing this while assembling the biryani

now in the remaining onion mix

add in ginger garlic paste

once the raw smell leaves from ginger garlic paste, 
add in sliced tomatoes

cook this till it gets soften

add in the spice powders

mix well so the raw smell from spices are gone

add in thick curd / yogurt

mix well and cook till the masala is thick

add in coriander leaves and mint leaves

mix well with the masala

meanwhile i boiled the eggs and made deep slashes over it

add the eggs into the masala

toss well in the masala

now spoon over the cooked brown rice

and the fried onions

few chopped coriander and mint leaves

cover with a lid

i heated a tawa on low heat

place this pot over the tawa and cook for 15 to 20 mins

now the biryani is done

mix lightly

serve

  6. Hi Aarti ... Thanks for the process of making this biryani ... coz my brown rice biryani was always a disaster while making in cooker .... today I made with veggies instead of egg ... I partially cooked these veggies .... did in the same way .... it was awesome .. and tastty ..Thanks again ...
